Scripture Sentence
"The greatest among you must bear
himself like the youngest, the one who
rules like one who serves. I am among
you like a servant."
                                           (St Luke 22: 26, 27)

The Collect

Almighty God,
your Son Jesus Christ has taught us
that what we do
for the least of your children
we do also for him.
Give us the will to serve others
as he was the servant of all,
who gave up his life and died for us,
but lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

Call to Worship

[Psalm 48:12-14]

Walk about Zion,
go all around it, count its towers,
consider well its ramparts; go through its citadels,
that you may tell the next generation that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
God will be our guide forever.

God of the generations,
we come to worship You.

God of women in childbirth,
we come to worship You.

God of those wrecked by storms,
we come to worship You.

God of the humble,
we come to worship You.

God of the poor,
we come to worship You.

God of the Son of Humanity,
we come to worship You
Amen

Let us worship God...
Opening Hymn of Praise
Open our eyes Lord (MP 545)
Open our eyes, Lord,
we want to see Jesus –
to reach out and touch Him
and say that we love Him.
Open our ears, Lord,
and help us to listen:
O open our eyes, Lord,
we want to see Jesus!

Confession

Our heavenly Father
thank you that you love us
and care for us all the time.
We know that this week
we have not always lived the way you tell us.
We have done wrong things
and not done all the good things we should have done.
Only you can save us,
so please forgive us
and help us to live as your friends.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.

Amen

Silence

‘If we confess our sins, He who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.’ (1 John 1:9,10)

In silence, reflect upon your week.  What do you need to say ‘Sorry’ about to God and to others and what must you do now?

Eternal God, who shows us the true meaning of humility in death and crucifixion,
forgive us our sins of pride and entitlement.

Eternal God, who gives us the gift of resurrection and forgiveness,
take from us now our weight of sin
and let us release those guilty feelings
that we may be ready to forgive others more kindly in our turn.
Amen

Creed

We believe in God the Father,
Maker of all things.
We believe in his Son Jesus Christ,
Lord and Saviour of the world.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
giver of life and light.
We belong to the Church,
God’s family everywhere.
Amen

Song

Who breaks the power (MP 1373)

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness?
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger?
The King of glory, the King above all kings.
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder?
Who leaves us breathless in awe and wonder?
The King of glory, the King above all kings.
This is amazing grace, this is unfailing love,
that You would take my place,
that You would bear my cross.
You would lay down Your life,
that I would be set free:
Jesus, I sing for all that You’ve done for me,
all that You’ve done for me.

2 Who brings our chaos back into order?
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter?
The King of glory, the King above all kings.
Who rules the nations with truth and justice,
shines like the sun in all of its brilliance?
The King of glory, the King above all kings.

   This is amazing grace . . .
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
and worthy is the King who conquered the grave.
(x4)
. . . worthy, worthy, worthy.

This is amazing grace, this is unfailing love,
that You would take my place,
that You would bear my cross.
You would lay down Your life,
that I would be set free.
Jesus, I sing for all that You’ve done for me.

Prayer with and for the children

We read of a King being chosen and anointed by the elders and tribes of Israel.
May we celebrate you and crown you
as our King of Kings:

Someone who brings us together,
someone whom we can trust for the future,
someone who believes in love,
someone who supports justice.

Over all kings and queens,
presidents and prime ministers.
May we know you
as ruler of our hearts and the whole universe.

Amen

Sermon

Song

Come down, O Love divine (MP 89)
1  Come down, O Love divine,
seek Thou this soul of mine
and visit it with Thine own ardour glowing;
O Comforter, draw near,
within my heart appear,
and kindle it, Thy holy flame bestowing.

2  O let it freely burn,
till earthly passions turn
to dust and ashes, in its heat consuming;
and let Thy glorious light
shine ever on my sight,
and clothe me round, the while my path illuming.

3  Let holy charity
mine outward vesture be,
and lowliness become mine inner clothing;
true lowliness of heart,
which takes the humbler part,
and o’er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing.

4  And so the yearning strong,
with which the soul will long,
shall far outpass the power of human telling;
for none can guess its grace,
till he become the place
wherein the Holy Spirit makes His dwelling.

Prayer of Dedication

Let us pray,

Gracious and loving God,
if we have gifts to bring,
it is of your free mercy;
for all things are yours,
and what we have comes from you.

Accept the offerings we make,
and grant that gifts which can never be worthy
may yet be made holy by your blessing
and used in your service;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Prayers of Intercession

(MICAH OLAD)

Father almighty God, we thank you for the lives you have given us. We thank you for our families, friends and loved ones. Dear God, we come before you in awe and in appreciation for giving us the opportunity to come into your presence. In the midst of our current virtual service, you have shown us your grace and mercy, that we are all safe and healthy. Receive your glory in Jesus Name.

As the world is still battling with the COVID pandemic, we pray seeking your healing hands over those who have been infected and affected. We remember countries like India, that recently got very much affected. We pray committing our friends particularly Ashis, Jacob and Ajit’s families in India. We seek divine protection. We also commit the work of our scientists regarding the vaccines into thy care. Continue to show them more advance ways to produce vaccines to cover more countries in need. As the vaccine roll-out is going on in Laos, we pray asking for an increase uptake by both nationals and foreigners. Father God, we pray that you will grant this country a herd immunity and give wisdom and direction to our leaders to continue to effectively manage the daily reported cases

Countries like Myanmar, Nigeria, Ethiopia and recently Ghana have been experiencing different forms and levels of violence, looting, crises and mishaps. We pray that you will let peace reign over these countries and other countries that have not been mentioned. We ask that may your love be seen and revealed to those who do not know you in these areas. Divine God, continue to use world leaders to bring lasting peace. Peace that you alone can give. Peace no one can understand, and peace that will be sustained.

We pray committing our Pastor (Pastor Tony) and his family into your hands. As they plan and prepare towards their return back to their home country, we ask for travelling mercies. We ask for protection and a safe journey. May they join their family in harmony to bring honor to your name. As they are leaving, we know they will not depart from your presence. May your presence continue to be with them wherever they find themselves. As they settle down, may you grant them opportunities of work, and ministry for your kingdom business to continue.

We are grateful that you are a prayer answering GOD. We thank you for all the prayers and intercessions we have raised before you this morning. May our prayers and supplications be heard, and answered in the mighty name of Jesus. May you give each and individual in today’s service a testimony of your glory and love. May we be surrounded by your love and protection. We bless your name and majesty, now and forever more…

Amen

Now, let us join in the prayer our Lord himself taught us:

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen

Closing Song

Lord of all hopefulness(MP 882)

1  Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,

whose trust, ever child-like, no cares could destroy,

be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,

Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.

2  Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,

whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe,

be there at our labours, and give us, we pray,

Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.

3  Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,

Your hands swift to welcome, Your arms to embrace,

be there at our homing, and give us, we pray,

Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.

4  Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,

whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,

be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray,

Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.

Prayer of Sending and Blessing
Let us go out in the spirit of the twelve,
no purse, no spares, no insurance, no pride.

There, in the world,
may we meet the vulnerable, the kindly,
those ready to receive us with generosity and grace.

And in this meeting, may we see our God in others,
incarnate, reborn, eternal:
in love and hope.
Amen

And the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with us all,
evermore.
Amen

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord,
in the name of Christ.
Amen
