Welcome to the CHS Vientiane Worship Resources
In these days increase our faith
We would come and enter boldly
Living only by Your grace
Christ our shepherd, lead us
And in love, our hearts renew
Bread of life, now come and feed us
Make us more and more like You
Make us more and more like You
Our heavenly Father
thank you that you love us
and care for us all the time.
We know that this week
we have not always lived the way you tell us.
We have done wrong things
and not done all the good things we should have done.
Only you can save us,
so please forgive us
and help us to live as your friends.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Lord God
You heap Your love upon us
like a parent providing
for their family’s needs.
Forgive us when, like spoilt children,
we treat Your generosity as our right
or hug it possessively.
Forgive us that we have kept
what we have to ourselves
rather than offering it up to You
that You might feed and sustain others.
Forgive us that we have failed
to be concerned about the waste
that our society produces.
Forgive us when have wanted more for ourselves at the cost of another.
We are sorry, Lord, and in need
of Your renewing grace.
As we gather now to worship You,
fill us with anticipation of Your word to us.
Strengthen us for service,
feed and renew us that we might share
in Your purpose in giving life to the world.
In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen
Psalm: Psalm 14
First Reading: 2 Samuel 11:1-15
Second Reading: Ephesians 3:14-21
Gospel: John 6:1-21
we celebrate its diversity,
dance with its wonder,
share its song.
But may we never imagine
the world is ours simply to have.
May we hear your call
to live within it with responsibility
and may we understand everything
is given to us in trust
for we do not own the world
and the world does not owe us.
Great God
all we need is here;
may we share it
and never take more than we need.
All that makes us fully alive is around us;
may we celebrate it
and never take what is not ours to have.
All that brings life has been given to us;
may we love it and never keep it to ourselves.
May we be your people,
fully alive in our intent
to be just and loving in your world,
O God.
We ask this in Jesus' name.
Have gone astray
Each of us turning
Our own separate way
We have all sinned and
Fallen short of Your glory
But Your glory is
What we desire to see
And in Your presence is
Where we long to be
Prayers of Thanksgiving and Intercession
provider of daily bread,
word of life and love,
we thank You for the gift
of Your Son Jesus, living bread,
broken and shared for all.
We thank You
that even the crumbs of our lives
and of our labours
are useful to You
in the service of Your kingdom.
We thank You
for Your endless overflowing grace
that knows no bounds
even as we seek to limit it
through our bad choices.
Lord God
As You heard the cries of Your people
in the wilderness and fed them bread from heaven,
as we remember how Jesus nourished Your people
with words of justice and compassion
hear us today as we pray for our world.
We pray for those whose daily need
for food, clean water
and proper shelter goes un-met
and for those misusing what they have
in the vain pursuit of pleasure.
Feed them with a sense of justice and fairness
That they might stand firm in their right
To a decent life for all people now.
by violence and crime, conflict and struggle.
Feed them with courage and anticipation
of a life beyond the barriers which hold them back.
We pray for those who are sick or sorrowing
and those who care for and console them.
We pray especially for those we know personally who are facing difficulties at this time
and who we name in a time of silence…
Fill them, Lord, with Your healing presence
and remind them of Your promises.
We pray for those who have lost faith
in themselves and in You
and who struggle to find meaning in life.
focus their eyes on You, Lord,
and give them hope for a new day.
We pray for ourselves that we might be filled
with energy to serve You better in our daily living.
And that we might, even in our doubt,
be reminded that You will never turn away
Or abandon us.
May we always look to You
As the one who gives us life.
We pray this in Jesus’ Blessed Name,
Amen
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen
1 In Christ called to baptize,
we witness to grace
and gather a people
from each land and race.
In deep, flowing waters,
we share in Christ's death,
then, rising to new life,
give thanks with each breath.
2 In Christ called to banquet,
one table we share,
a haven of welcome,
a circle of care.
Although we are many,
we share in one bread.
One cup of thanksgiving
proclaims Christ, our head.
3 In Christ called to witness,
by grace we will preach
the life-giving gospel;
God's love we will teach.
By grace may our living
give proof to our praise
in costly compassion
reflecting Christ's ways.
4 Unite us, anoint us,
O Spirit of love,
for you are within us,
around us, above.
Equip us for service
with gifts you bestow.
In Christ is our calling.
In Christ may we grow.
