Welcome to the CHS Vientiane Worship Resources
We dare
to worship,
to praise,
to love,
to forgive,
to live fully,
to live with faith,
to live together,
to live for the future.
We dare
to be different.
Fairest Lord Jesus (MP 823)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V7AVyJyJU4
1 Fairest Lord Jesus, Lord of all creation,
Jesus, of God and man the Son;
You will I cherish, You will I honour,
You are my soul’s delight and crown.
2 Fair are the rivers, meadows and forests
clothed in the fresh green robes of spring;
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
He makes the saddest heart to sing.
3 Fair is the sunrise; starlight and moonlight
spreading their glory across the sky;
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines clearer
than all the heavenly host on high.
4 All fairest beauty, heavenly and earthly,
Jesus, my Lord, in You I see;
none can be nearer, fairer or dearer
than You, my Saviour, are to me.
Our heavenly Father
thank you that you love us
and care for us all the time.
We know that this week
we have not always lived the way you tell us.
We have done wrong things
and not done all the good things we should have done.
Only you can save us,
so please forgive us
and help us to live as your friends.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
First Reading: 1 Samuel 8:4-11, 16-20
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1
I am surrounded by trouble (arms around
the head),
but you protect me against my angry
enemies (palms outwards to form
protection).
With your own powerful arm you keep
me safe (clenched fists raised in front of
face).
You, LORD, will always treat me with
kindness (a smile as hands held out in
welcome).
Your love never fails (hands clenched
together).
You have made us what we are (forefingers
traced from head to toe).
You will never give up on us, Lord
(shouted twice).
Psalm 138:7,8 (CEV)
Amen
Here I am, humbled by Your Majesty
Covered by Your grace so free
Here I am, knowing I’m a sinful man
Covered by the blood of the Lamb
Now I’ve found the greatest love of all is mine
Since You laid down Your life
Your greatest sacrifice
Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty-handed but alive in Your hands
Here I am humbled by the love that You give
Forgiven so that I can forgive
So here I stand
Knowing that I’m Your desire
Sanctified by glory and fire
And now I’ve found the greatest love of all is mine
Since You laid down Your life
The greatest sacrifice
Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty-handed but alive in Your hands
Singing Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by Your love
In the presence of Your Majesty
Majesty
We’re singing Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
And I’m nothing but alive in Your hands
We’re singing Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by Your love
In the beauty of Your Majesty.
Prayers of Intercession
Gracious God, we come before you this morning with grateful hearts because you are good and your mercies endure forever. Thank you for your many acts of kindness that we’ve seen and experienced all throughout the past week. The fact that we are part of today’s service is a sign of your goodness and we are grateful for that. We are also grateful that we are alive and well this morning and that your Spirit lives within us. Although the lockdown here in Laos has been extended for another two weeks as was communicated on Friday, we appreciate that even during this difficult time, we’ve been able to receive your word and encouragement through the preaching, teachings, songs and prayers that have been faithfully shared by Pastor Tony, Donald and many others during this period. Although there still have been community related transmissions, we are thankful for the significant reduction of cases since the start of the lock down in April. Thank you for the other countries that are supporting this country through the donations of vaccines and other medical supplies. This morning and the rest of the week, we lift our eyes to you knowing that only you are our source of help, strength and comfort. As a servant looks unto the hands of the master, and as the eyes of the maiden unto the hand of the mistress, so our eyes wait upon you gracious God that you may have mercy on us on the various aspects of our lives we are trusting and believing you for.
Thank you for today’s word. We thank you that your word is life to those who find it and health to all their flesh. Even as we’ve received it this morning, we’ve received life, strength and hope. It’s our prayer that we be like the Bereans who received the word with all readiness of mind. Give us the grace to search scriptures daily so that we may be able to apply your word to different areas of our lives.
We surrender Laos to you this morning as we continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of this nation. We commit the leaders of this country to you that you may give them the grace to rule this country in wisdom. We continue to surrender the Covid 19 situation to you as we pray and ask for your wisdom in the distribution of the much needed medical supplies to those most in need. We also remember those that have health challenges that are not related to Covid that your healing power may touch them and meet them at their very point of need. We pray that their cases will be treated with the urgency and attention they deserve for the preservation of life.
We remember CHS church and we remain indebted to you for what you are doing in the church. Father, in the name of Jesus, may you let the ears of every unsaved soul in our work places and areas of influence continue to hear the compelling sound of the Holy Spirit all through this year and come to your serving knowledge. May there be an ever-increasing revelation of your love and goodness in the church leading to church growth as we share your love with others. Open the hearts of those in our work places and areas of influence to the glorious gospel of Christ so they can be saved. Even with the limitations we have in reaching out to others in this country, we pray that you may grant us wisdom to do so thereby turning many in our areas of influence to righteousness.
We commit every member of the CHS family to you. We pray that you may help us to walk in the fear of the Lord, thereby hating evil so that we can continue enjoying the favor of God in our lives. We pray for the recovery of Sam back in Canada and everyone sick among us that they may be made whole by the power of your word. May you continue to bless and strengthen Sylvia and others in the church as they continue taking care of their loved ones.
We continue to remember in our prayers Terry Muir, who is gravely ill and for his wife Phouang and young son, James. We also remember his sons and daughter back in the UK. We pray for Patrick, Andrew and Caireen. May your blessing and protection be upon them all and may they recognise and trust in the hope of glory made known in Jesus.
We are grateful for Pastor Tony, the church committee and various leaders you’ve given us in the church. We pray that you may continue to endue them with divine wisdom, thereby leading to the continuous growth and expansion of the church. We pray that you may continue filling Pastor Tony afresh with the spirit of wisdom as he continues to feed the flock with wisdom and knowledge leading to continuous growth this year, both in the church and individual member’s lives.
We commit him and the family to you that even as they continue their preparations to move back to Scotland, may it go well with them. We pray committing the selection process of the new CHS pastor thanking you because you are the shepherd of CHS and we pray that the whole process may go well. We pray committing the pastor and family who you desire to take up the role that you may continue ministering to them and preparing their hearts for this assignment.
We pray for different areas of the world which are grappling with the Covid 19 pandemic that they may experience your mercy and your healing power during this difficult time. We remember those who’ve lost their loved ones and pray for your peace and comfort to feel their hearts. We also remember other countries that have internal and external conflicts and pray for their peace too. We remember our families back in our home countries and pray that your peace and protection may continue resting upon their lives.
Even as we start this new week, we pray that you may go before and after us. We declare that our boundary lines have fallen for us in pleasant places and we have a delightful inheritance. We declare that we are strong, healthy, whole, favored, people of purpose, covered by the blood of Jesus and are under the shadow of your wings. We declare that we are people of excellence and our children are strong and mighty in the land. All this we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Amen
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear –
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged:
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful,
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness –
take it to the Lord in prayer!
3 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge!
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
thou wilt find a solace there.
