Opening Hymn of Praise
Confession
Our heavenly Father
thank you that you love us
and care for us all the time.
We know that this week
we have not always lived the way you tell us.
We have done wrong things
and not done all the good things we should have done.
Only you can save us,
so please forgive us
and help us to live as your friends.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Gracious God,
the one who has called us
each by name,
the one who knows
our hopes and our fears,
the one who loves us
no matter what happens,
the one who cares for us
more than we can ever know,
the one who is our good shepherd
who looks after us every day.
Thank you for being in our lives,
for guiding us and leading us
towards you and each other,
for showing us how to love,
how to care for all your people
and your creation.
Help us to hear your voice
as it calls out to us to be
more forgiving,
more generous,
more conscious of the
environmental problems we face,
and guide us towards a better
world where we can all live
safely and peacefully together.
Amen
Great is Thy
faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Chorus
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see:
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow—
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Living God
accept these offerings we bring to You
in a whole variety of ways.
Grant that they may go where we can’t go,
that they may reach where we cannot reach,
that they may do what we cannot do.
Use them to strengthen Your Church
and advance Your kingdom
here where we are and far beyond
for Jesus’ sake.
Prayers of Intercession
(Prepared by George Kabaso)
Father in the name of Jesus, we want to thank you for this day
because this is the day that you have made that we may rejoice and be glad in
it. Although we are not able to meet in person due to the Covid 19 situation
that has suddenly changed here in Laos over the last few days, we’re still
grateful for the fact that we are able to have fellowship within our homes and
remain connected to you.
Thank you for today’s word. We thank you that your word is life to
those who find it and health to all their flesh. Even as we’ve received it this
morning, we’ve received life, strength and hope. It’s our prayer that you may
help us not only to be hearers but doers also in Jesus name.
We surrender Laos to you this morning. Your word tells us to pray
for the peace and prosperity of the city we’ve been exiled in because from its
peace, shall come our peace. We commit the leaders of this country to you that
you may give them the grace to rule this country in wisdom. We surrender the
Covid 19 situation to you and pray and ask for your mercy and intervention. We
pray that you may grant those in authority the wisdom to deal with the
situation and to make wise decisions that will benefit the country as a whole.
We pray for those who’ve tested positive and ask that your healing power may
touch them and meet them at their very point of need. We also pray for those
sick among us that your healing power may touch them too. We surrender the
vaccine role out here in Laos and other parts of the world that you alone may
grant those in charge the wisdom to ensure that provision is made for those
most in need.
We remember Aloke and Biju and their families, both of whom lost
their fathers this past week; we pray that the gracious Holy Spirit may comfort
them as they go through this trying time. We also remember other families that
have lost their loved ones this year that your comfort, peace, hope and
assurance may fill their hearts.
We remember CHS church and remain grateful to you for what you are
doing in the church. We commit Pastor Tony and the family to you that even as
they continue their preparations to move back to Scotland, that it may go well
with them. We pray committing the selection process for the new Pastor for CHS.
We thank you because you are the shepherd of CHS and pray that you may grant
the selection committee leadership, direction and discernment in the entire
process. We pray committing the Pastor and family who you desire to take up the
role that you may continue ministering to them and preparing their hearts for
this assignment. We pray for the church and ask that you may cause the church
to grow both spiritually and numerically. Help us gracious God to desire more
of your word, our time in prayer and grace to reach out to those in our work
circles and share of the love and goodness of God that more and more may come
to your saving knowledge. We commit other church ministries such as to those in prisons
to you dear God that you may continue causing the church to be your hands and
feet even as we reach out to others.
We continue praying for the peace of Myanmar in the region. We
pray for your peace and normality to return in the country. We also remember
other countries that have internal and external conflicts and pray for their
peace too.
We commit the rescue operations that are
currently underway in Indonesia where the submarine has been missing for days
now. We pray for the success of the operation and that all 53 crew members may
be rescued before the oxygen levels which are at critical levels run out.
Even as we start this new week, we pray that you may go before and
after us. We declare that our boundary lines have fallen for us in pleasant
places and we have a delightful inheritance. We declare that we are strong,
healthy, favoured, people of purpose, covered by the blood of Jesus and are
under the shadow of your wings. We declare that we are people of excellence and
our children are strong and mighty in the land. All this we pray in the name of
Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
